US Environmental Law and Sustainability

This course provides an overview of the major environmental statutes and the common and constitutional laws that are relevant to environmental protection in the United States. Law is examined from the point of view of its effectiveness in developing healthy and sustainable human societies that also honor the inherent value of nature. Students examine how we can use law to develop a cleaner, safer, and more stable economy, and to protect natural beauty and the resources our descendants will need. (4 credits)
